Seeing “account blocked” or “account suspended” when you try to log in to Spinbob can feel alarming — especially if you have money in the account. In most cases, though, a block is a safety or compliance step, not a punishment, and it can be resolved by talking to support and sending the right documents. This guide explains the different types of Spinbob account restriction, the usual reasons behind them, and exactly what to do.
The five types of Spinbob account restriction
| Type | What it means | Can you log in? | Typical fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Temporary lock | Security lock after failed logins or unusual activity | Usually not | Reset password, confirm identity with live chat |
| Verification hold | KYC incomplete or documents needed | Often yes, but deposits/withdrawals restricted | Upload documents in My Account → Verification |
| Suspended pending review | Account frozen while the casino investigates | Sometimes, view-only | Cooperate with requests; wait for outcome |
| Closed | The casino has ended the relationship | No | Ask for the reason and your balance; complain if unfair |
| Self-excluded / timed-out | You (or GAMSTOP) chose to block gambling | No | Wait for the period to end — it can’t be reversed early |
Knowing which one you’re dealing with matters, because the right next step is different each time. If the message on screen isn’t clear, ask Spinbob’s 24/7 live chat: “What type of restriction is on my account, and what do you need from me?”
Why Spinbob blocks accounts
Failed logins and security alerts
Several wrong passwords in a row, or a login from an unfamiliar device or country, can trigger an automatic lock. It protects your balance from someone guessing their way in. See our Spinbob login guide for reset steps.
KYC or age mismatch
UK rules require Spinbob to verify your age and identity before you deposit or play. If the name, date of birth or address you registered with doesn’t match your documents — even a typo or a maiden name — the account can be held until it’s corrected. Our KYC verification guide lists accepted documents.
Duplicate accounts
Spinbob permits one account per person, household, IP address and payment method. Two accounts at the same address (for example, housemates or a couple) or a card linked to someone else’s account can flag a duplicate. Explain the situation honestly to support; deliberately opening extra accounts usually ends in closure.
Bonus abuse suspicion
Patterns such as opening several accounts for the welcome bonus, breaking the £5 maximum bet while wagering, or coordinated play with other accounts can lead to a review. If you’ve played normally, a review usually clears once the casino looks at your history.
Payment chargeback
Disputing a deposit with your bank after playing it (a chargeback) almost always results in an immediate suspension while the casino investigates. If a payment was genuinely unauthorised, tell Spinbob and your bank at the same time.
Affordability and source-of-funds checks
UK operators must check that gambling is affordable and that money comes from a legitimate source. If your deposits rise, Spinbob may restrict the account until you provide payslips, bank statements, a P60 or a tax return. This is routine and not an accusation.
GAMSTOP match
If your details match a GAMSTOP self-exclusion, a UK-licensed operator must block or close the account. This is a protection, not an error.
Step by step: what to do if your Spinbob account is blocked
- Stay calm and don’t open a new account. It will be treated as a duplicate.
- Contact live chat. It’s available 24/7 inside the casino; if you can’t log in, use the chat on the login page or the Help Centre contact form. There is no phone line.
- Ask three questions: what type of restriction is it, what do you need from me, and how long will it take?
- Send exactly what’s requested — clear, complete, colour images — through My Account → Verification or the secure link support provides. Don’t email documents to random addresses.
- Get a reference. Note the chat transcript or ticket number and the date.
- Follow up after the stated timeline, not before; repeat chats rarely speed up a review.
What to have ready
Photo ID (passport, UK driving licence or national ID card), proof of address dated within the last 3 months, proof of payment method (card photo with the middle 8 digits and CVV covered, or an e-wallet screenshot), and — if asked — payslips, bank statements, a P60 or tax return.
Typical timelines
- Security lock: often resolved in minutes once your identity is confirmed.
- Verification hold: 24–72 hours after a complete, readable upload.
- Compliance or source-of-funds review: depends on how quickly you send documents; ask support for an estimate and keep your replies prompt.
- Closure decisions: you should receive a written outcome; if you don’t, ask for one.
What happens to your balance
A restriction freezes the account; it doesn’t take your money. While a review is open you may not be able to play or withdraw. Once it’s resolved:
- Lock or verification hold cleared — everything returns to normal and pending withdrawals continue.
- Account closed for business reasons — your legitimate balance should be paid out, usually to your original payment method under the closed-loop rule. See withdrawals.
- Account closed for a proven breach — bonus funds and winnings linked to the breach can be removed under the terms, but your own deposited money should normally be returned.
- Self-exclusion — your balance should be returned to you when the exclusion starts.
If Spinbob says it is withholding funds, ask in writing which term it is relying on.
How to complain about a Spinbob account block
If you believe the decision is wrong, use the escalation route set out in our troubleshooting hub:
- Tell support you want to raise a formal complaint and set out the facts, dates and the outcome you want.
- If you’re unhappy with the final response, or you’ve had none after eight weeks, go to the independent ADR provider named in Spinbob’s terms — it’s free.
- You can also report licence concerns to the regulator. Check the licence details shown in the Spinbob footer before depositing — UK players should look for a UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) licence.
Our support page explains how to reach Spinbob and what response times to expect.
When NOT to try to reopen your account
If the block exists because you self-excluded — through Spinbob’s own tools (6 months to 5 years) or through GAMSTOP — please don’t look for a way round it. Self-exclusion can’t be lifted early, and it’s there because at some point you decided you needed a break. The same goes for a time-out (24 hours to 6 weeks): let it run.
